Progress

The piece you see just above these words, "Alan Resting," was finished a few weeks ago. Part of what I call my 'Chesty Businessmen' series, it is 10" x 8", acrylic on Bristol paper.  The pictures in this series are comprised of nude figure studies of curvacious younger women, onto which I have imposed the heads of paunchy, smiling, middle-aged businessmen -- I find them very amusing and look forward to painting many more of them.
The series of pictures you see above depict the changes that "Alan Resting" underwent during its creation. The piece started with the head of an Asian man, but at some point during the process I decided to opt for the head of a balding older white gentleman that I had found in ad or something somewhere. I believe I made the correct decision to change the piece -- I really enjoy Alan's mischievous, sideways glance.  I always enjoy looking at the pictures of works in progress from other artists, so I thought my two readers may find this interesting as well.

Guston

Love me some Philip Guston. This one is at the Metropolitan Museum in New York. I could stare at a Guston for a long time.
